Wood Workshop

Wood Workshop

In the OTG woodshop our aim is to give you a broad range of options to work with the material that the ancient Chinese considered the fifth element ( Fire, water, soil and ether were the other four ). The O’Town Garage started out with some basic DIY-tools and a cutting saw; but two new developments mean that from June 2020 our woodworkshop will go to the next level.

  1. Sponsors have made it possible to acquire a professional laser cutter and a small CNC-router.
  2. Furthermore; we have struck a deal with one of our new members to integrate parts of his workshop into ours.We will get a:
    • planer/thickener,
    • a table-saw,
    • several routers,
    • and more.

A booth for spraypainting objects up to the size of a kitchen chair is also in the works.

Our Mission

We want to be the place where creatives, designers, artists and DIY-enthusiasts go to realize projects, develop ideas and share knowledge about wood and related materials. It doesn’t matter if you are experienced or a beginner; if you wanna build something from scratch or just fix a broken piece of furniture.A key part of our work is sharing of know-how. Both for safety; since working with tools and machines in the workshop can be hazardous, and for your product to come into being with “best practice” and a satisfying result. We will have tutored workshops once every two weeks and our goal is to have our youtube-channel filled with self produced videos presenting and explaining the projects that are done in the woodshop.

Materials

For now we will not have a stock of materials to sell from. So if you want to work with new materials you will have bring them. We have some recycled wood and some leftovers from previous projects to pick from and in the new set-up its possible to straighten and split these materials into the dimensions you want. When the woodshop 2.0 is fully implemented it will contain these tools/machines/options.
